Little Guys...

Okay this post is full of pictures of the 3 little guys. The events are mostly in reverse order, but I'm too lazy to fix it, so there! Here is a little snippet of what's been going on with the Batson Boys lately:

"Harvest Party" at preschool. Eli loves his class and his teachers! He frequently likes to give every friend a hug goodbye when it's time to go home!

The kids did a parade around the school and it was so cute to see them strut their stuff!

Eli and Noah wanted to play Jenga. So, I showed them how to do it. They didn't exactly play by the real rules, but they did a pretty good job of taking blocks out without it tipping over!

The next few pictures are from October 8th, just hanging around during one of Eli's soccer sessions. Happy times!

Every year on Labor Day weekend Spokane does "Pig out in the Park" downtown at Riverfront park. There are lots of food vendors and fun things going on. We took all the kids and they had a blast!

Noah on a gigantic slide. He couldn't get enough of it!

A busy season

There was a court of Honor in September and Eric was awarded 6 merit badges. He also was awarded his Star Scout. Really he's super close to his Life Scout Rank which is the last one before Eagle! He has worked really hard and sped right along in Boy Scouting. We're really proud of you Eric!

Eric also just finished his first football season. His team was the Mead Jr. Panthers. It was a learning season for Eric. There were 22 kids on his team and all but he and 4 others had played together for 5 years! He toughed it out though. There were a few really rough practices. They only lost one game and made it to the championships for their age. Sadly, they lost in the last game, but that's not too shabby for his first year! Eric is #42. WE didn't get a lot of good pictures, but at least it looks like a football game, huh?

Soccer Star

I think I'll let these pictures speak for themselves. Eli had his first season of Soccer. They didn't have any real games exactly, but don't tell him! He loved every second of it.

My Spiritual Lion

I was taking Eli to school on Friday. It was "harvest party" day, otherwise known as Halloween party day. So he had his cute lion costume on. We were almost to the school and he said, "Mom! We forgot to say the morning plair!" (that's Eli speak for prayer). I'll confess it's actually pretty rare for us to have a Morning Family Prayer. We nearly always do in the evening, but not so often in the morning. Anyway, this was the 2nd time he brought it up. And just as I did the first time, I asked if he would like to say one for us in the car. He definately wanted to, so it went something like this, "Heavenly Fodder, fank de for dis day. Please bless our friends and please bless the teachers and please help us have a good time at school. Name of Jesus Christ Amen."

Oh to be in so much wonder of the world as a two year old! Noah looks at new things every day and loves to say, "Wow! Amazing!" Oh yeah and he calls everything wonderful too!

Since about May or so Eli has been very interested in how old he is. When we ask him, he says, "I freezer old!"
I made the mistake once of giving him 3 of some sort of treat, saying that he got 3 because he's 3 years old. Now, anytime I give him anything he says, "But I freezer old!" Meaning, I MUST give him 3!

A couple of weeks ago we were going to play with the Huismans. Eli knew he would see Greg and he started asking, "Mommy Greggars freezer old too?" "Yes, Eli, Greggars is 3 years old just like you." He thought for a moment and then figured out, "Oh! He same big are me!" I love 3 year old grammer.

Eli has also memorized when his birthday is. When we ask him he says, "My burfday is Febrary!" Since his birthday is on the 5th, I showed him that he could hold up all 5 fingers. Now when we ask him he says, really loudly, "My burfday Febrary fift!" with whole lot of spit and a very proud extended high five-style hand.

Today at the park Noah was having a blast climbing UP the slide. IT was a fairly tall slide and he felt very accomplished. When he would get to the top, he'd hang his head over and look for either me or Eli then say, "What doing?" Then he'd laugh and slide on down. This was repeated a bunch of times.

Some of Noah's phrases lately, "Where are you?" "Oh, there I are!" "I wanna hide" (usually under a blanket or a table, etc.) He'll tell us a whole lot of gibberish that we don't understand, while holding his hands out, palms up, like he's explaining something. Then he says, "K?", very know-it-all like we should know exactly what he's talking about.

This is said as he waves his finger at me and gives me a squinted-eye look.

September 2008
"I wanna like pirate!" As he climbs up and sits on top of the toilet tank. Anyone seen that commercial?

"I wanna like friends!" This means that he wants to hold hands and walk toward whereever it is HE wants to go.

"I wanna sleep mommy." This means that I have to lay down and fall asleep with him.

"I wanna need it." He wants to need just about anything that anyone else has.

July 2008
This is what I heard from the back of the van tonight. "bacons? (translation: spankins? as in do you need spankins?). Time out! bacons! time out!" Wow, is this how I sound to him?

"Later! Catch the bus!" As he puts on his really cool free IKEA backpack (upside down, mind you) and is heading toward the door. But before getting to the door he had to come back and get his good bye kiss. He just wants to be like daddy and big brother!

"Out!", he screams to me, pointing his finger to get me out of HIS kitchen (which, by the way, he pronounces chichen). Hmmm...where would he get this kind of bossiness?
